David B. Wetzel and George K. Thiruvathukal lead mobile/wireless performance of Terry Riley's "In C" for Mobile Ensemble at the Web Audio Confernce (WAC) 2024

At the Web Audio Conference, David B. Wetzel and I (with Griffin Moe in absentia) presented a mobile-friendly application for a “technology ensemble play-along” of Terry Riley’s 1964 composition In C. As far as we know, it is among the first versions of In C to allow for performance on mobile/wireless devices with no requirement of being able to play a musical instrument.

Attendees performed reading of In C using available web-enabled devices as musical instruments. We successfully demonstrated an accessible music-technology experience that relies on face-to-face interaction within a shared space.
